To take a screenshot you have to press the power button at the top-left of the iPad as well as the Home button at the same time.
To send a screenshot you can tap the screenshot at the bottom-left of your screen, hit the share button (the square with an arrow) at the top-right of your screen, and choose how/who you want to send it to.
